There are outstanding examples of “Academies” of international level which function in an exceptional manner and have been the germ of famous national and international musicians, for example the “Yehudi Menuhin Academy” in Gstaad (Switzerland), the “Karajan Academy” in Berlin, the “Music Academy of the West”, or the “Escuela Superior Reina Sofia” in Madrid. It is important to emphasize that this Academy will be based on complementation. Its objectives will not be as an alternative, but will complement the educational and ambiental role of conservatories. The activities of the Academy will be to concentrate on those areas which do not receive the proper attention paid until now by other centers of musical instruction. In this Academy, that which in other schools is not always stressed, that is, the preparation of the musician to integrate into a professional symphonic orchestra and to develop his capacities for chamber music, important facets in a musician’s development, will be given much importance. A primary objective will be to develop not just the technical skills but also the artistic sensibility of the student. Interpreters and young students of brass instruments will be promoted, and brass music will be spread through regular concerts, a musical genre very important in the region of Alicante, owing to the quantity of existent groups.

Analysis of the needs of the Region
The province of Alicante is unique for its quantity of young people who dedicate themselves to the playing of brass instruments and for its extraordinary tradition of brass bands.
The presence of conservatories in the region is a guarantor of an appreciable level in the execution of brass instruments.
Nonetheless, a detailed analysis of the situation permits the conclusion that the offering of an education more specialized for the purpose of preparing musicians in entering professional symphonic orchestras, as well as in the playing of chamber music, would be wanting. This training would permit the more talented to perfect themselves to the point of being able to function as soloists of their respective instruments in an international ambience.
