Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1992<\/strong>, he began his horn studies at the age of eleven with his father, Mauricio Ibacache<\/strong> (former Principal Horn of the Chilean National Symphony Orchestra). In 2010<\/strong>, he started his musical education at the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile<\/strong> under Edward Brown<\/strong> (former principal and current member of the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra). He has taken masterclasses with distinguished horn players and professors such as Stefan Dohr, Fergus McWilliam<\/strong> (Berlin Philharmonic), Dale Clevenger, Will Sanders<\/strong>, and Ignacio Garc\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2014<\/strong>, he was selected to join the Brass Academy Alicante<\/strong>, a high-performance academy, studying under Nury Guarnaschelli<\/strong> as his teacher and mentor.<\/p>\n

  • 2006-2011<\/strong>: Award winner at the Corporaci\u00f3n de Amigos del Teatro Municipal de Santiago<\/strong> competition.<\/li>\n
  • 2007<\/strong>: Recipient of the Jorge Pe\u00f1a Hen Scholarship<\/strong>, awarded by the Foundation for Youth and Children\u2019s Orchestras of Chile<\/strong>, achieving the highest national score.<\/li>\n
  • 2011<\/strong>: Winner of the Young Soloists Competition<\/strong> of the Corporaci\u00f3n Cultural de Concepci\u00f3n<\/strong>, performing Mozart\u2019s Horn Concerto No. 4<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • 2013 & 2014<\/strong>: Winner of the Amadeus Performers Competition<\/strong> in La Serena, Chile, performing Mozart\u2019s Horn Concertos No. 1 & 4<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Professional Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    • 2014<\/strong>: Invited to join the orchestra of the Encuentro y Festival de M\u00fasica de Santander<\/strong> (Spain), under the baton of Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Cobos<\/strong> and Peter Csaba<\/strong>. Also performed as a soloist and in chamber music concerts alongside Michel Arrignon<\/strong> (Paris Conservatory).<\/li>\n
    • October 2015<\/strong>: Won a Principal Horn<\/strong> position at the OFUA in Alicante<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • 2015 & 2016<\/strong>: Member of the Brass Academy Alicante Ensemble<\/strong>, under the direction of Rudolf Korp<\/strong>, performing numerous concerts in Alicante.<\/li>\n
    • July 2016<\/strong>: Invited as a musician to the International Summer Brass Festival Alicante<\/strong>, performing in the ensemble and as a soloist with Nury Guarnaschelli, Gabriel Garc\u00eda, and Paulo Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • September 2016<\/strong>: Toured San Juan, Argentina<\/strong>, performing Mozart\u2019s Horn Quintet<\/strong> at the Juan Victoria Auditorium<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • 2017<\/strong>: Gave concerts in La Serena, Chile<\/strong>, conducting and performing Mozart\u2019s Horn Concerto No. 1<\/strong> with the Elqui Chamber Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Since April 2017<\/strong>, a member of the Teatro Col\u00f3n Stable Orchestra in Buenos Aires<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • 2018<\/strong>: Became a permanent member of the Bayres Horn Quartet<\/strong> in Buenos Aires.<\/li>\n
    • August 2018<\/strong>: Performed as a soloist at the Teatro Oriente in Santiago, Chile<\/strong>, with the Juvenile Symphony Orchestra of La Antena<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • September 2018<\/strong>: Invited to the Porto Alegre Horn Festival<\/strong>, performing with Bayres Horn<\/strong> and the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • 2019<\/strong>: Performed as a soloist at the La Serena Summer Chamber Music Season<\/strong> and with the Juvenile Symphony Orchestra of La Antena<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • July 2019<\/strong>: Invited with Bayres Horns<\/strong> as guest artists at Italian Brass Week<\/strong>, one of the world’s most prestigious brass festivals, performing in Florence and Vinci<\/strong>. Also toured Valencia and Barcelona<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • September 2019<\/strong>: Toured Oman<\/strong> with the Teatro Col\u00f3n Stable Orchestra<\/strong>, performing at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • November 2019<\/strong>: Won a permanent position<\/strong> as a member of the horn section of the Teatro Col\u00f3n Stable Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • November 2020<\/strong>: Invited as a brass jury member for the Friends of the Santiago Municipal Theater Scholarship Competition<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • September 2021<\/strong>: Released his first album with Bayres Horns<\/strong>, focusing on Astor Piazzolla<\/strong> in celebration of his centenary. The album is available on all digital platforms.<\/li>\n
    • October 2021<\/strong>: Performed as a soloist with Bayres Horns<\/strong> at the Teatro Col\u00f3n de Buenos Aires<\/strong>, alongside the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>, as part of the official 2021 season.<\/li>\n
    • November 2021<\/strong>: Invited again as a brass jury member<\/strong> for the Friends of the Santiago Municipal Theater Scholarship Competition<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • January 2022<\/strong>: Invited as a horn professor for the Music Weeks<\/strong> organized by the Municipal Corporation of La Serena, Chile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • March 2022<\/strong>: Performed chamber music at the Llao-Llao Musical Weeks in Bariloche<\/strong>, alongside Argentina\u2019s most renowned musicians.<\/li>\n

    • August 2023<\/strong>: Performed with Le Cor Horn Quartet<\/strong>, focusing on opera music, and with Aurai Wind Quintet<\/strong> at the Teatro Col\u00f3n’s Golden Hall Chamber Music Series<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • January 2024<\/strong>: Invited as a horn professor and chamber musician at the 41st Curitiba Music Workshop (Brazil)<\/strong>, held from January 25 to February 4, 2024<\/strong>, teaching chamber music and orchestral repertoire while performing multiple concerts with wind and brass quintets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Currently, he serves as Associate Principal Horn of the Teatro Col\u00f3n Stable Orchestra<\/strong> in Buenos Aires, actively participating in chamber and solo projects in Argentina, Spain, and Chile<\/strong>, as well as teaching and mentoring various youth orchestras in Chile.<\/p>\n
