Born in Chelva (Spain), Jose Martínez is the tubist of the Orquesta Nacional de España, co-founder of Duo2Arts, a music, dance and theater company, and ambassador of Chicago Luminarts Cultural Foundation.
Jose was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and fortunate to collaborate with the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops, Chicago Symphony, Gothenburg Symphony, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Orchester de la Suisse Romande, Porto Symphony, Qatar Philharmonic , Saint Louis Symphony, Seattle Symphony, or Teatro alla Scala Orchestra and Philharmonic.
Jose exchanged knowledge at Isla Verde Bronces brass festival in Argentina, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, San Francisco Conservatory, University of Washington, Festival Gravíssimo! in Portugal or the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He will be forever grateful to Mike Roylance, Gene Pokorny, Chris Olka, Morten Agerup and Sergio Finca.
Winner of the Busan Maru (Online) Concerto Competition and Chicago Luminarts Foundation Solo Competition, Martínez has been a member of tribunals in the Jeju International Tuba Competition, the National Orchestra of Spain, the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the International Tuba and Euphonium Association, the Spanish Association of Tubas and Euphoniums and the International Mock Audition Competition for Tuba.
